suited connector
A suited connector is a connector formed from a single suit. These are commonly played pockets in hold'em as they have a chance at both straight and flush draws on the flop.

A middle rank suited connector.
Most strategies for hold'em tend to open with a suited connector in late position, or call moderate bets. They have a chance to forming both a straight or flush, or a drawing hand. They may be more often played in a tournament where a player can't afford to wait too long, than in a ring game where a player can simply wait for a better hand.
