In Hold'em a player who has a pocket card matching the highest board card is said to have top pair. It is not necessarily the highest pair however, as another player could have a higher pocket pair.

In addition to top pair, a player who also holds the highest kicker is said to have top pair top kicker. The kicker is usually the ace, as there can be no higher kicker. Though in some circumstances it may be a different card. For example, with a pair of aces the top kicker would be a king.
