high-low split pot
Many games are played with a split pot between a high and a low hand. The high hand is the highest standard poker hand and the low hand is the best possible lowball hand.
There are many variants of a split pot. The two most common are a forced split and an conditional split. The forced split indicates the pot will always be split between the two hands. The conditional split is usually a requirement that the lowball must be met. If not met then no split occurs. A common requirement is that the lowball hand must have be at most an eight-high (thus no pairs or better and all cards eight or lower).
