dependent event
In probability a dependent event is an event whose outcome is altered by any previous events. That is, one event influences the next event.
In a deck of cards there are 13 hearts. To draw heart from the deck you have a 13 in 52 chance. After that draw however there are only 51 cards left in the deck. If the first card was a heart, there is also one less heart, so the second draw has a 12 in 51 chance of being a heart. If the first card was not a heart, then all the hearts remain and there is a 13 in 51 chance of the second draw being a heart.
In poker dependent events are much more common that independent events.
