A chip is a token used in poker in place of real money. Chips have a specific denomination, either a specific monetary value or just a number.

Chips are typically circular though very larger denominations are often rectangular. This allows for easier distinction from lower values sharing the same colour.

Standard Colours

While there is no official standard there are some common colours that most poker chips tend to follow. As colours do vary however, it is vital that you never assume the denominations based on colour.

• Gray/White - 1
• Red - 5
• Blue - 10
• Green - 25
• Black - 100
• Purple - 500
