crying call
A crying call is a call made hesitantly or with a lowered expectation of winning. Such calls are usually made when a player is uncertain about his opponents holding but the pot odds seem to warrant a call.
Jawal figures Randy for a donkey, but his small bet on the turn gives him pause. Randy could easily be making a minimal stab to take down the pot yet could equally be bluffing. Jawal has only a flush draw at the moment and somehow Randy has put just few enough chips in to make it worthwhile to call. The pair on the board gives threat of a full house, and even if Jawal makes his flush he'll likely have to face a large bet from Randy. Jawal makes a crying call.
