The hijack is the position two to the right of the dealer (button). They are the player one to the right of the cutoff.

The term may originate to mean the player has the chance to "hijack" any steal attempt from the cutoff or dealer. They tend to be the first player in a last position and thus have a reasonable chance at stealing, or at least becoming the last player to act on subsequence rounds.
