pot limit

Pot limit is a type of betting limit where the size of the pot determines that maximum amount of a raise. It, like no limit, has a minimum bet size and a raise must be at least as much as the previous bet.

The maximum bet, or raise, is equal to the size of the pot plus the amount a player must call.

Richards makes a bet of $10 into a $40 pot, resulting in a $50 pot. Matthew wishes to raise the maximum. That maximum is the $50 currently in the pot, plus the $10 required to call, equalling $60. Note he may now raise this amount, meaning his total contribution to the pot will be $70 since he has to cover the original $10 bet plus his raise.
