strong hand
A strong hand, in contrast to a weak hand, is a hand which has a strong likelihood to win. At the current point it is most likely the favourite, though not necessarily the nuts.
There is no absolute scale of what constitutes a strong hand. It depends on the game being played, the players' cards, and the community cards, if any. What may be a strong hand in one game could easily be a weak hand in another.
